Earlier, it was believed that leather furniture was only to be brought by the aristocrats but the parameters have changed now. Leather furniture is evergreen; forever in fashion. Leather has covered a long distance, evolving with times. The look, the color, the design, the style; every thing has underwent a great change.
It is not the same as it was earlier. In fact, it is striving to better itself day by day. Aficionados of leather furniture have successfully convinced the general public that leather furniture is attainable for most people.
Without doubt, leather is the most durable and long lasting fabric covering that has ever been used. It lasts 4 to 5 times longer than any other upholstered fabric. It is fire resistant, does not crack or peel, resists heat and sun, it even ages gracefully by becoming soft and it holds its color fastness. It is difficult to go wrong when buying leather furniture. Full Grain Leather is more desirable, the attributes that make leather a durable and long a lasting piece of furniture still hold true even for the less expensive grades of leather.
The placement of leather furniture should be carefully monitored to increase the life of the furniture. Remember not to place leather furniture too close to a radiator, fireplace or a direct heat source, even a heater vent. It is recommended that all leather furniture must be kept at least two feet away from source of heat. Do not expose your leather in sunlight for long time as it may cause it to fade.
Dusting your leather weekly is very important to keep leather pores free from dust particles. You do not need to do much, just dust it lightly with a soft damp cloth. This seemingly simple process is very effective in increasing the longevity of the furniture. Whenever the furniture gets stained, get armed with a soft cloth and a detergent or a liquid soap to wipe the stain off. Remember, the earlier, the better.
Tough stain marks such as those caused by wax, gum, blood, chemicals etc should be cleaned immediately using good leather cleaner. Use a high quality leather conditioner/preservative four times a year to keep your leather shiny and supple. Reapply another coat of conditioner after a thorough cleaning. Just take these simple measures to enjoy a lifetime of companionship with your leather furniture.
