Before giving a corporate gift, one should try and know the company and its culture. Is the company trendy or conservative? If that is the case, then the gift should reflect that. Since the custom around the world wary, one should have a proper understanding of the gift etiquette in order to avoid offending overseas clients.
One should try and personalize the gift after knowing the clients hobbies, interests and likes. One should avoid sending gifts with religious themes or messages. The gift should stand out from the crowd. One should try about sending the gift on an unexpected holiday. One should not send the same thing every year as it tends to look boring and one would be taken for granted.
One should stay away from anything which is too personal or which can be misconstrued. For e.g. one must be careful while sending alcohol or wine. A company may take it negatively or the individual may be a teetotaler. The price of the gift must also be considered. On the other hand a food item may click all the time.
One should not use logo items if one wants to gift the item personally or the client may view the logo as too cheap.
