Call Center Employment
Although irate calls has been the mainstay of customer service work in a number of countries but many call-center employees in India have reported that they face abuse from Americans whose comments are sometimes racist and often inspired by anger over outsourcing.
It is not only causing anger among the Indian employees but also causing a lot of trauma. These calls are fueled by outrage over outsourcing which is expected to grow to 3.4 million U.S. service sector jobs overseas by 2015. Most of the work is now moving to India where young, low cost employees are handling a range of American tasks which range from adjudicating insurance claims to chasing debtors.
According to Communication Workers of America, call center professionals in India are being taken care of by their employers as compared to states. The environment in call centers in India is much better whereas in states the employers are not considerate about the workers. The workers out there are treated like commodities.
The nature of the work in call centers which comprises of night shifts can result in serious health problems and the attrition rate in the call center industry has been in the region of 18 to 25 percent due to the tough working environment.
