Auto Dialer
It is an electronic device which can automatically dial telephone numbers to communicate between any two points in the telephone, pager networks and mobile phone. Once the call is established, the autodialer would announce verbal messages or transit digital data to the called party.
A regular desktop or laptop can be turned into an autodialer. If one wants to connect a PC with a telephone line, a telephony board is required. A number of popular telephony boards are those from Dailogic and many traditional auto dialers are based on Dialogic cards.
There are a number of advantages of using telephony cards over simple modems which includes detecting touch tones and transferring calls directly through to the caller.
Autodialers were once employed by telemarketers for spamming. The passage of the U.S. Do Not Call legislation, 2003 has resulted in tight regulations and the imposition of fines against violators.
Smart AutoDialers are autodialers which are capable of personalizing messages and collecting touch tone or speech feedbacks. A speech engine is generally included for converting text to speech and recognizing speech over the phone. |
