After you get tattooed the work of your artist ends their and your work for taking proper care about tattoo starts so that no infection or another problem creates for you. You should carefully and strictly adhere after care guidelines provided to you by your tattoo artist because if you ignore the care of tattoo then you can be in danger.
Fresh engraved tattoos are like fresh wounds and thus are breeding ground for bacterial infection, so the artist covers the tattooed area with a bandage to keep it away from air. Following guidelines should be taken in consideration so that you can keep you tattoo for long time:
- Tattooed area should be cover to keep it away from air and dirt. For this bandage should be there for few hours to cover the open flesh.
- After taking off bandage the area should be wash gently with water and antibacterial soap and then dry it off with a soft towel with light hands followed with the prescribed ointment.
- After full healing of your tattoo, you need to protect it from the sun's ultraviolet rays as these rays can fade your tattoo and for this you can apply minimum of 30SPF sunscreen lotion on it to protect it from the damage caused by the sun.

You should not apply anything on the tattooed area without consulting your doctor or tattoo artist because there are possibilities of having skin problem, any other disease or it may fade its color.
